Accept Payments with Viva Wallet
The Viva Wallet integration with Gravy allows restaurants to accept secure online payments, including cards and digital wallets, directly within the digital ordering experience. Guests can pay seamlessly when ordering through QR menus, QR kiosks, tablet kiosks, or tablet menus.
When guests place orders, Gravy initiates the payment and securely redirects the guest to Viva Wallet’s hosted payment page. The payment is then processed by Viva Wallet and routed through the relevant card network or local payment provider.
Gravy handles the ordering workflow, while Viva Wallet performs the payment processing. Funds are transferred directly to the restaurant’s merchant account, without Gravy acting as a financial intermediary.
Supporting Multiple European Payment Methods
Through Viva Wallet, restaurants using Gravy can accept a wide range of payment methods commonly used across European markets.
Supported payment options include:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Viva Wallet Smart Checkout
- iDEAL
- Bancontact
- Giropay
The exact set of payment methods depends on the country where the restaurant operates, as Viva Wallet automatically supports the local payment ecosystem in each market.
Online Payment Flow in Gravy
The payment process is designed to work seamlessly with restaurant ordering workflows.
The typical flow works as follows:
- A guest places an order through a Gravy ordering interface.
- Gravy redirects the guest to the Viva Wallet hosted payment page.
- Viva Wallet processes the payment with the appropriate card network or payment provider.
- Once the payment is approved, the order is created in Gravy and marked as paid.
- The paid order is sent to the restaurant’s POS system.
If the POS system rejects the order or the POS integration is temporarily unavailable, Gravy automatically triggers a payment cancellation or refund through Viva Wallet and notifies the guest.
This mechanism ensures guests are never charged for orders that cannot be processed by the restaurant.
Digital Ordering Channels Using Viva Wallet
The Viva Wallet integration works across multiple Gravy ordering channels.
Restaurants can accept payments when guests order through:
- QR Menu ordering on their own phone
- QR self-ordering kiosks
- Tablet menus using QR-based checkout
- Tablet self-ordering kiosks
For tablet-based ordering devices, guests typically scan a QR code displayed on the screen and complete the payment on their own mobile device through Viva Wallet’s secure payment page.
